The soul of the forest lies in the soil
Mushrooms do not grow to please. They grow to help. And as architects of the forest floor, they protect, connect and nourish the entire ecosystem - usually in secret. It is precisely this mixture of beauty, diversity and importance that makes mushrooms so fascinating and worth protecting. "Respect the Locals" is our tribute to these silent heroes of the forest. We focus on those who are rarely the center of attention and show how we can treat mushrooms with care and respect.

Forest guide: How to mushroom respectfully
Anyone who picks mushrooms bears responsibility: for the forest, for other pickers and for the mushrooms themselves. With a few simple basic rules, you can show mindfulness, respect and an understanding of nature on your next outing:
- Only collect what you recognize. If in doubt, leave it or have it checked by an inspection body
- Don't take too much with you. Only collect as much as you can actually use
- Carefully twist out or cut off the mushrooms and cover the area with leaves
- Respect nature. No garbage, no tracks, no entering protected areas
- Transport mushrooms correctly. Preferably in an open basket, not in plastic
- Have it checked after collection. Experts will help you with any uncertainties
- Never eat mushrooms raw. Always cook thoroughly to neutralize toxic substances
- Store leftovers in a cool place and heat well. Get medical help immediately if you feel unwell
- Sometimes just looking, photographing, marveling or drawing is enough
