The NIKIN TreeShirt has been with us since 2016 and has since become a symbol of our values. But a good product is not enough for us - our goal is to develop the best product. Improving our products is and remains a conviction for us and a promise to our customers and community.
The TreeShirt has evolved over the years - with an optimized cut, more sustainable materials and fair production. Today, it is made from 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, is produced in Europe and is pre-washed to prevent shrinkage and linting during washing. Thanks to our partnership with retraced, the shirt is also fully traceable - from raw material to packaging.
All of these improvements now apply to our entire TreeShirt line. And with the TreeShirt EVOLVE, we bring them to the point - as a symbol of our aspiration to think ahead and create fashion with real impact.
From classic to statement - the evolution of the TreeShirt
Four clear steps. One goal: we have completely overhauled and noticeably improved our most popular product - from the material and production to the fit and transparency.
2017
The original TreeShirt
We launched our first TreeShirt in 2017, shortly after the very first NIKIN product, our Beeanie. At the time, it was produced in Asia and made from conventional cotton with a small amount of polyester.
- We learned an incredible amount from our first steps in product design - from the choice of material to cutting and logo placement.
- The cut should fit as many people as possible, which led to our early Unisex.
- Some challenges showed us how important good quality assurance and reliable processes are.
- The most important learning at the time was that if we really want to give something back to nature, not only our values but also our products must be sustainable.
2018-2019
The first major development step
The switch to fair production, improved cuts and more sustainable materials was a milestone. With our first visits to producers and GOTS certification, we laid the first foundations for more transparent processes.
- Change of production to Europe, new ladies' cuts introduced
- First new shirts made with organic cotton and recycled polyester
- Development together with local partners and first factory visit in Turkey.
- Start of GOTS certification for NIKIN and producers
- Product diversity grew: new styles such as V-necks and pocket shirts were added.
2020-2022
Quality optimization & introduction of fits
With an experienced team, we were able to further develop our products professionally. The introduction of fits, quality controls and new materials fundamentally improved the TreeShirt.
- Introduction of Regular & Relaxed Fits for better fit & and customer satisfaction.
- Prewashed treatment reduces shrinkage, ensures a consistent shape and reduces pilling.
- Recycled polyester (except for melange) removed for better quality & recyclability.
- Solution found for mottled shirts with 100% organic cotton.
- Uniform sizing system and controlled quality across all products.

Our TreeShirt is ready for the future: with EVOLVE, we are setting new standards for sustainability, quality and transparency. Thanks to retraced, all our shirts are now 100% traceable - from the raw material to processing and packaging.
