Our review of NIKIN in 2025

Our review of NIKIN in 2025

Another year is coming to an end. A year that we will not forget anytime soon. In 2025, we at NIKIN made NIKIN come true, launched new innovations, planted over 300,000 trees, and discussed, raved about, and tasted mushrooms, forests, circularity, and coffee with you. And as we do every year, we would like to use these last few days to look back on our highlights and give you a little preview of what 2026 has in store. Spoiler alert: it's going to be big.

From Lenzburg to Aarau: Moving into our TreeHouse

Those who have known us for a long time know that NIKIN is NIKIN Lenzburg-based company, where it started out and has deep ties to the region. This year, however, we ventured out into the big wide world, or more precisely, to Aarau. A suitable building became available in the middle of the old town, and we moved in in March. The big move, the complex installation of our tree—which now stretches from the fourth floor to the ground floor and can be admired by all—and finally the grand opening of our TreeHouse cost us more than just a few beads of sweat.

But the effort has more than paid off: since March, the NIKIN has been an integral part of Aarau's cityscape and a place of inspiration, encounter, and gathering for our community. For this very purpose, we have created a dedicated space in the TreeHouse with the Community Hub, where events and talks can take place. And that is exactly what we have been making intensive use of in recent months.

By the way: If you haven't made it to TreeHouse yet, you can get an idea of our new home in our short but sweet documentary film.

With the community in, around, and on the TreeHouse

With TreeHouse, we finally have the space to invite our community on a regular basis. We launched our monthly TreeHouse Talks and discussed the future of the textile industry with guests such as Patagonia, Muntognard, and We are ZRKL. But we also appealed to the sense of taste, with coffee experts showing us what really good coffee is all about. And in the fall, we ventured out into the forest for the first time: our first joint mushroom excursion was a complete success.

We were particularly surprised by something that was actually meant as a joke: we offered the TreeHouse on Airbnb, initially just as an April Fool's joke. But the demand was so great that we quickly pitched a tent on our terrace and actually welcomed guests. There was even a marriage proposal! And then there was our tribute to Aarau: the carrot socks for the Rüeblimärt sold out within a few hours – over 500 pairs. Unbelievable!

We look forward to many more discussions, ideas, and events at TreeHouse and already have a lot planned for 2026.

From coffee to mushrooms to carrots: Product highlights for 2025

We also really stepped on the gas in terms of products in 2025. We listened to your feedback about new shirts with large prints. That's why we created several of them. The crowd design shirt by our winner Sophia was particularly popular and quickly became a clear favorite. Our Mushroom Collection, including a practical mushroom knife made from wood scraps from our TreeHouse tree, was also very well received—perfect for anyone who likes to go mushroom hunting.

In addition to new ideas, we have also revamped our classics, especially the TreeShirt. The goal: to make them even more comfortable, durable, and sustainable. We have launched another highlight with our first Puffer Jacket. It is windproof, water-repellent, completely PFC-free, and therefore ideal for any outdoor adventure. For the first time, we have also added wool products to our range. It was particularly important to us to work only with RWS-certified suppliers in order to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.

Another highlight of the year was our legendary carrot socks, which we designed especially for the Rüeblimärt in Aarau. And, as every year, for every product sold, a Tree was Tree in 2025. This brings us closer, step by step, to our goal of planting 3 million trees.

300,000 trees: Our TreePlanting projects for 2025

In 2025, we once again planted thousands of trees together with our partner organizations, thereby providing important ecological, social, and economic impetus—from South America to Asia to Africa. Here is an overview of where your support has taken root this year:

Brazil: Reforestation in Carla's homeland

In Sete Lagoas, home to our CFO Carla, several planting phases were carried out in January, March, and December. The region suffers from deforestation and soil erosion—our reforestation efforts help to protect biodiversity and regenerate nature. Want more details? Click here to visit our blog.

Thailand: Agroforestry & Protection of the Hill Tribes

In February, we supported a project with One Tree Planted that protects the habitats of indigenous mountain communities through reforestation and sustainable agriculture. You can read more about it here.

Senegal: Mangrove and agroforestry projects

Starting in May, two projects were implemented with veritree: mangrove reforestation on the coast and agroforestry inland. The projects not only improve the climate, but also the living conditions of the local people. You can find all the information in the corresponding blog.

Bhutan: Hazelnut trees for a stable future

In the fall (October and November), we supported a project involving hazelnut trees to secure income, combat erosion, and promote long-term greening. Working together with small farmers for a stable future. All information can be found here.

In total, we were able to plant over 300,000 trees in four countries in 2025 —with positive effects on nature, people, and local communities. This result impressively demonstrates what can be achieved with a committed community.

What is planned for 2026?

As if 2025 wasn't busy enough, we're continuing in the same vein in 2026, if not with even more enthusiasm. Because the coming year is NIKIN very special NIKIN for NIKIN : our journey began 10 years ago. 10 years full of ideas, creativity, innovations, products, encounters with inspiring people, and of course countless trees. We planted trees, staged them, put them on products—and they have always accompanied us on our journey.

We want to celebrate all these highlights from the last decade in style in 2026. As every year, our official anniversary is on October 22—but a 10-year celebration only comes around once in a lifetime, so we're kicking off the festivities at the beginning of the year. Get ready for lots of NIKIN, emotions, events, and surprises.

Green forest

Without you, it wouldn't be possible, dear community.

Finally, we would like to say one thing above all else: Thank you, dear community, for the last nine years, for your support, your feedback, your questions, and your many visits to TreeHouse. We are very much looking forward to opening the next chapter in NIKIN together with you in 2026 and NIKIN to ten years NIKIN . So, see you very soon!
