Power of coffee grounds: From cup to textile fiber
The journey to our Coffee Carbon Shirts begins where many people's day begins: with coffee. Instead of ending up in the trash, used coffee grounds are given a second life – as a functional, sustainable textile fiber with special properties. To produce Coffee Carbon, coffee grounds are collected from cafés, roasteries, and instant coffee producers worldwide and processed in several steps:
- Carbonation: First, the coffee grounds are heated and converted into activated carbon.
- Grinding process: This coal is then ground and processed into nanoparticles.
- Fiber blend: The particles are blended with organic cotton.
- Spinning: Together we create the yarn for our Coffee Carbon Shirts.
This creates a functional, environmentally friendly textile fiber with natural advantages:
